Teen Activists in Florida Getting the Government They Want Good and Hard

For the last several weeks, David Hogg and his fellow Parkland, Florida, teenagers have been running around begging the government to use violence and coercion to make sure I don’t have the kind of guns they don’t like. But it seems the tables have suddenly been turned on our intrepid activists. They wanted more government. Well, now they’re getting it. Good and hard.
It seems the administration at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has come up with some new policies in the name of safety in the wake of the tragic shooting there. These include requiring students to carry clear backpacks.
Our student activists are not pleased that the power of the governing authorities has been turned on them.
Senior Tyra Hemans told CNN she was OK with some of the security policies, such as ID requirements, but not the backpack rules.
“I’m not happy with it. Why are you punishing me for one person’s actions?” she said.
Well, Tyra, a lot of peaceful gun owners could ask you the same question about your gun control policies.
She also told CNN that she believes clear backpacks violate students’ privacy.
Hogg also brought up the privacy issue and went as far as to specifically reference his “First Amendment rights.”
“It’s unnecessary, it’s embarrassing for a lot of the students and it makes them feel isolated and separated from the rest of American school culture where they’re having essentially their First Amendment rights infringed upon because they can’t freely wear whatever backpack they want regardless of what it is,” Hogg said.
Well, David. a lot of people feel the same way about you pleading for the government to stomp all over their “Second Amendment rights.”
This is a great lesson for these kids. When you beg for more government, you can’t control where it ends up being directed. If it’s OK for you to use coercion and threats of violence to dictate what kinds of guns Americans own, it’s OK for school officials to use coercion and threats of violence to dictate what kind of backpacks you can wear.
Most people are fine with government force until the government directs it at them. They are fine with coercion and violence as long as it’s being used to compel people to do what they want. But the moment the force turns on them, and somebody tries to make them do something against their will, suddenly it’s not OK.
Well, you can’t have it both ways.
Here’s the truth – it’s never OK to use coercion and force to bend people to your will. Everybody needs to just stop.

Some of the “teen activists” from FL are bully’s …. 15/16/17 as mature as they may seem are NOT fully mature enough to dictate policy for ALL of US…. they are
rude and disrespectful, and yes they are violating the 1st amendment….. I wish they
would rejoin their HS classes, enjoy proms etc… To have a cause for the safety of teen & children in the classroom is right and just….. bullying is NOT ……these teen’s need mentoring from adults who are not using them for the wrong agendas . They must be careful of the money/prestige offers that come at them from EVIL places …
I fear for their mental health, and future grown …… sad to be lead down the wrong paths by adults with hidden agendas ……..
