Peace Signs and Hillary Stickers

The other day I stopped at a red light behind a car sporting a Hillary Clinton sticker on the bumper right next to a peace symbol.
How in the world does this poor woman remain so blissfully free from cognitive dissonance?
Hillary Clinton is a war-monger. She wholeheartedly embraces the Bush – Obama foreign policy arc. And yes, the Nobel Peace Prize winning current president is also a warmonger. He did nothing but continue and expand the foreign policy of the previous president. You know, the one the left labeled a war criminal. Currently, the U.S. is executing bombing campaigns in seven countries. So much for “Hope and Change.”
Sadly, the anti-war left vanished like ice cubes in a plastic cup on a hot Florida day once Obama took up occupancy in the White House. Apparently, war is cool as long as their guy runs it. And now the left has coalesced behind Hillary, who seems intent on dragging the United States into a war with Russia.
Last spring, the hard-left publication Counterpunch published an article titled “Hillary Clinton’s Neocon Resume’,” highlighting her foreign policy interventionism and support for war. But all you really need to know about Clinton’s foreign policy is that the co-founder of the neoconservative think tank Project for the New American Century, Robert Kagan, supports her, and said his fellow neocons will too, during a Foreign Policy Professionals for Hillary fundraiser.
“I would say all Republican foreign policy professionals are anti-Trump. I would say that a majority of people in my circle will vote for Hillary.”
Project for the New American Century played a leading role in the push to invade Iraq.
I suppose you could argue this demonstrates trust in Hillary’s extensive foreign policy experience. But when that experience involves bombing countries all over the Middle East, and killing millions of people, perhaps it should give us all pause?
I find this enthusiastic support for Hillary among those on the Christian left most disturbing. These people pride themselves on their compassion, love, mercy and sense of social justice. They look down their noses at the Religious Right and condemn them as intolerant and un-Christian (and they have a point). Yet they not only support, but cheerlead, a woman who has expressed a willingness to “kill a lot of Syrians” in order to advance U.S. foreign policy goals.
Like the woman driving around displaying her peace symbol and Hillary sticker, these Christian-left Clinton apologists seem blissfully free from any hint of cognitive dissonance. They’ll cast their votes. The wars will continue. More people will die.
But a least a woman will occupy the White House. Mission accomplished.

I am always amazed by the cognitive dissonance of both Republicans and Democrats and their blind loyalty to the party. They live in fear of the boogie man(the opposing party) and therefore act irrationally, I guess. They(statists) have an end in mind, a vision for the future, and the means to accomplish their goal is the government. Since, they view their goal as good(obviously), they justify the means(also ignoring any evil) needed(in their view) to accomplish their good goal.
You’re right. It’s definitely a phenomenon on both sides of the political aisle. And I think your analysis as to why is spot on.
